Boys Varsity Baseball

Coach Cory Spera attended Hayfield Secondary School (’11) where he was a member of the baseball and basketball programs for four years. He played three years of varsity basketball and was a member of the ’08-’09 team that made it to the Virginia state tournament. He played four years on the varsity baseball team and was a member of the 2011 National District championship team. Cory was named an honorable mention all-district basketball player and two-time first-team all-district pitcher.  He was named the District Pitcher of the Year in the National District his senior year. He also won the Hawk’s Claw Award and the Principal’s Award while at Hayfield. Upon graduation, Cory went on to play baseball at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. At Lafayette, he was a first-team relief all-conference pitcher and baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the Patriot League. Upon graduating from Lafayette, he won the Maroon Club Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Class of 1913 Trophy, making him the top male scholar-athlete in the school as voted on by the booster club and athletic department, respectively. Cory currently works as a Leadership Fellow for The Headfirst Companies in Washington, D.C.
