JV Hawks(1-0) open season with convincing win over neighborhood rival Mt. Vernon, 7-1. Alejandro Rodriguez pitched 5 strong shutout innings for his 1st high school victory. Rodriguez and Braeden Muir led the bats with 2 hits apiece and Muir scored twice. But the difference in this game was the defense. Kofi Aboagye-Nyame's hustle behind the plate turned a wild pitch into an out at the plate while Kevin Mial's alert backup of 3rd base turned an errant throw into another out at the plate as part of a double play. All in all, a great start to the season!
