The Hawks continued their winning ways, with a 17 point defeat of their National District rivals, the Majors of Mt. Vernon. The Hawks began the night, going up 8 in the first quarter, pushing the lead to 10 early in the second, only to have the Majors bounce back with a 13-4 run right before the half. Senior PF Chris Johnson (10pts, 3rebs, 3stls) then calmly banked in a 3 pt field goal as time expired. That gave the Hawks a 2 point halftime lead. The Hawks never looked back, outscoring the Majors by 15 in the third, essentially putting this game out of reach. The Majors tried to mount a comeback, but a shrewd defensive adjustment by Coach Poindexter, helped keep the ultimate 17 point cushion.

This game also saw senior SG Tyler Seelman (17pts, 3assts, 2blks) break out of his shooting slump in a big way, hitting 5 of 8 field goals, and 4 of 4 from the charity stripe. He joined junior F Amir Atkins (17pts, 7rebs, 3stls) with the team high in points. Amir won the toughness award, playing most of the night with a dislocated finger. The Hawks were led at point by PG Tyler Thornton (12pts, 3assts), whose up tempo style, again propelled the Hawks offense. The Hawks also received stellar spot duty from F Kendrick Mack (5pts, 2rebs), C Montez Wilson (4pts, 3blks), C Dalon Thomas (2pts, 2rebs, 1blk), and F/C Richmond Williams (6pts, 3rebs). The Hawks next match-up is this coming Friday, when they travel to Herndon HS. Game time 7:30pm
