YORKTOWN HIGH: 40
Hayfield finished the first half of its National District schedule with a hard-earned home win against Yorktown, raising its district record to 4-3. In a low-scoring game, Isaiah Glasby led a balanced offensive effort with 9 points and also contributed 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocked shots. Nate McShay once again accepted the challenge of guarding one of the district’s top players, holding Yorktown’s leading scorer below his average and adding 8 points and 6 rebounds. Richmond Williams, in his second start of the season, added 8 points and 6 rebounds. The Hawks overcame Yorktown pressure defense and their own turnovers with clutch foul shooting down the stretch by Williams and Tyler Seelman (6 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists), who combined to knock down 8 consecutive free throws in the last two minutes to help hold off a late run by the visitors.
