The Boys Varsity Hawks never really got it going tonight, as they played their first National District opponent, the Jaguars of Falls Church HS. The Hawks came out flat, and fell behind early, as the Jags capitalized on the Hawks misses in the paint. The Jags played a well disciplined game, and continued to attack the Hawks at their weakest points; hitting the offensive boards, finding the open man, and breaking down the Hawks interior defense. In the end, the half time deficit was too great, and the Hawks dropped their 4^th game of the season; 60-53.

    The Hawks did have flashes of brilliance including reeling off 5 straight points to open the second half, cutting the lead to 1. The inability to finish in the paint however, stymied the Hawks, and they never grew closer than that. The Varsity Boys were led by starting SG Faris Gebril (15pts, 3-7 from downtown), who continued his hot shooting from outside the arc. SF Amir Atkins (14pts, 9rebs) played another solid game, including snaring 7 offensive rebs. His outside touch seems to returning, as he connected on 2 threes (2-5). C Eliet Donley (12pts, 10rebs) chipped in with another double-double. The Varsity Hawks return to the hard court tomorrow night, vs. the #11 ranked team in the region; Edison HS.
