Buzzer beater fells Hawks
The JV Hawks lost on Friday night, to the Edison Eagles, with the help of a 25 foot jump shot at the buzzer. The Hawks fought back valiantly, after being down by ten with under 6 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, then taking the lead, up two with 1 minute and 52 seconds. Both teams had chances to pull away, but each defense was up to the challenge. Edison brought the ball in with 3.4 seconds, tied with Hayfield at 55 all. Then the sky fell for the Hawks, as they watched helplessly, as the long range shot swished through the net.
The Hawks were led by Sam Angeli, who had his season high of 18 points. He was perfect from the charity stripe, hitting all 4 of his shots. He was also nearly perfect from beyond the arc, shooting 4-5. He added 8 rebounds, including 4 offensive. Nana Owusu, starting his first game of the year, proved he deserved his start, finishing with 7 points, including 2 key baskets during the Hawks comeback. He also contributed 7 rebounds. Tyler Seelman and Nate McShay added 9 and 7 points respectively.
