Another OT Game for Hayfield, Same Result: Hawks Win 9th in a Row!

The Hayfield Hawks played in their second consecutive overtime game, this time edgeing Wakefield HS, 61-54. This game seemed well in hand, as the Hawks held Wakefield to 12 first half points, but credit Wakefield, for these guys never quit. In the third quarter, Wakefield outscored the Hawks 18-15, and then almost defeated the Hawks, with a 17-9 fourth quarter. Forward Nate McShay hit 1-2 free throws, with under 30 seconds to tie the game at 47. Then the Hawks hung on, as Wakefield missed two key shots. Sophomore Steve Lynch almost won the game at the buzzer, narrowly missing a half court heave. In overtime, hot shooting Tyler Seelman took over, scoring 7 of his team high 21 points in the OT. He buried 2 key free throws, to put the game out of reach, as Hayfield weathered a woeful shooting night including missing 16 free throws (10-26).

Other notable efforts: Nate McShay added 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Brandyn Marshall over came a early game collision, to score 6 points and dish out 3 assists. Ben Kim came back to earth after two phenomenal games, to add 7 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Garrick Short had 9 rebounds, including 5 offensive. Center Anthony Wilson, grabbed a personal best, 13 rebounds, along with scoring 4 points. Barry Coleman provided another defensive spark, with 2 steals, and adding 2 baskets off turonovers. Steve Lynch shot very well in thew paint, scoring 3 baskets on 6 shots (6 points). Forward Sam Angeli added to his team high 49% 3 point efficiency, with another corner 3. Nana Owusu added 3 rebounds in limited minutes.
