JV HAWKS SOAR TO 9-0, BEAT PATRIOTS BY 5

The JV Hawks, playing away, helped Hayfield avoid being swept at all levels Monday night, with a five point victory over the Patriots of Yorktown HS. The Hawks, playing at the varsity game time of 7:30, were able to slow down the Patriots flex offense, and keep them off the FT line (1-5), two of the main parts of the Patriots vaunted attack. The Hawks outscored the Patriots 24 - 17 in the second half, after trailing by 2 at halftime. The Hawks, normally not the best free throw shooting team, hit 8 out of 10 in the second half, including 4 straight by Kyle Phox (6pts, 2asts), to propel them to victory.

The Hawks were led on Monday by SF Tyler Hodge (11pts, 6rebs, 2stls), including 5-7 from the FT line. PG Ralf Bansil (8pts, 4stls, 3asts) chipped in with a blocked shot, and 2 defensive rebounds, while SG Eddy Biniam (9pts, 1stl, 1ast) continued to improve his shooting percentage, hitting 54% from the field.
