Hawks Sweep Season Series from Majors
The JV Hawks continued their winning ways, triumphing over the Majors of Mt. Vernon, defeating them by the 67-53 margin. Just like the first time around, the Hawks allowed Mt. Vernon to hang around, just within striking distance, until the Hawks found their stride in the 4th quarter. The Hawks quickly turned a 2 point lead into a 15 point margin, and then coasted to the 14 point win.
The JV Hawks played excellent man-to-man defense throughout most of the night, and coupled with their stifling zone press, limited the Majors to 16 field goals. The Majors were able to stay close by hitting 18 of 22 free throws, and by employing their own smothering press, which scored 8 straight points, to end the 3rd quarter.
In the end though, it was just too big a hurdle, with the Hawks pouring in 31 points in the 4th quarter.
