A Tale of Two Halves; JV Titans Dominate Second Half, Defeat JV Hawks by 23

The JV Hawks returned from the Holiday break, seemingly with the loss to Chantilly far in their rearview mirror. The JV Boys came out slowly, missing ten of their first 15 field goals, but then caught fire, stunning the JV Titans by dropping 30 points on them in the second quarter. That lead was short lived however, as the Titans routinely exploited the Hawks interior defense, on their way to a 49 point second half. The Hawks tried to slow down the Titans point guard, with a box and one early in the second half, unfortunately were unable to maintain that intensity, getting into a back and forth up tempo game, where missed layups doomed the Hawks.

The Hawks were led on offense by PF Jeremy Jones (16pts, 9rebs, 4blks), who had his best game of the season, especially in the Hawks 1st half, where he tallied 10 of his 16 points. The Hawks were steered on defense by SF Aaron Jeter (5pts, 5rebs, 3stls), who brought defensive intensity, and passion to the Hawks nest. C Corey McGhee (7pts, 8rebs, 3blks, 2assts) had his best game overall, especially on the offensive glass (4 rebs), and PF Will Miles (6pts, 3rebs, 1asst) brought his “A” game, especially in the 2nd quarter, when he led a balanced attack on route to the Hawks season high of 30 points.
