Boys JV Basketball vs. WAKEFIELD HS

Game Date
Jan 10, 2014
Score
HAWKS: 52
WAKEFIELD HS: 42

JV Hawks Stay on Track, Win 2 in a Row

The Boys JV Hawks continued to play team oriented basketball, for the second straight game, and were rewarded with their second straight win. As the JV Hawks begin to understand that no one person can determine a games’ outcome, they have begun to trust each other, and play spirited, team first basketball. Under the expert tutelage of second year coach, Ray Davis, the JV Hawks climbed back to .500, with a 10 point victory over their National District adversaries, the JV Warriors of Wakefield HS.

The JV Hawks received an excellent all around effort from PF Aaron Jeter (12pts, 19rebs, 4stls) for the second game in a row. His return to prominence corresponds with his winning a starting position, based solely on hard work, and a team first attitude. He was joined by C Corey McGhee (8pts, 14rebs, 5blks) in the double figure rebound club. McGhee had his best overall game of the season, helping Jeter and Hawks dominate their offensive glass (Jeter and McGhee combined for 16 offensive rebounds).

Other notable contributions included: PG Juwan Williams (6pts, 3rebs, 2stls), who also started for the second straight game. Reserve PG Xavier Gingras (7pts, 3rebs, 4stls) bounced back from a tough outing vs. Centerville to lead the Hawks defense which amassed 17 steals, 6 blocks, and 14 deflections. SF Jecardi Sykes (6pts, 3rebs, 1stl) also started for the second straight game, and flushed 2 threes from beyond the arc.
