Score
HAWKS: 56
STUART HS: 38

Amino and McGhee Lead JV Hawks to Victory, 56-38

The JV Hawks brought their intensity from the previous game, but not the outcome, back to the Hawks Nest, as they rolled over their National District foe, the JV Raiders of Jeb Stuart HS. PF Aziz Amino (4pts, 2rebs, 1blk) came off the bench to help spark the JV Hawks to their 4th victory of the season. Amino, who made the team, for the first time this year, shuck off the rust, and quickly made an impact in the 2nd quarter, swishing his second shot of the game. He returned to the scoring column in the 4th, connecting for one the JV Hawks 3 field goals of the quarter.

The JV Hawks were paced by C Corey McGhee (11pts, 4rebs, 3blks, 5dflcts), who scored in double digits for the second straight game. On defense, he was seemingly everywhere, deflecting or blocking numerous Raider shots and passes. The JV Hawks were very active on the glass, amassing 47 total rebounds (21 offensive). PF Aaron Jeter (8pts, 8rebs, 2asts) had another strong game, as he and McGhee scored at will in the 1st quarter.

PF Zach Wenger (7pts, 9rebs, 2asts, 2stls) had his best game of the year, and led the JV Hawks on the boards. Team Captain Will Miles (4pts, 7rebs) chipped in on the offensive glass, sharing the team high with 4. PG Juwan Williams (5pts, 6rebs, 5dflcts) joined Miles with 4 offensive rebounds, and almost had his hand on every Raider pass. PF Mohamed Mahmoud (5pts, 5rebs, 2stls) provided solid interior defense and intensity. With the game in hand by the 3rd quarter, SF Romaine Oakley received some needed rest. He did make an impact in the 2nd however, pacing the JV Hawks with 6pts, including 4-4 from the line, and improving his team high free throw percentage to 77% (24-31). The JV Hawks are back at it on Monday, 1/27 when Mclean HS visits the Hawks Nest.
