Saxony Not Hospitable for Hayfield, Hawks Lose by 5 in OT

The JV Hawks fell to a season low of 4 games under .500, after suffering a tough overtime loss to the JV Saxons of Langley HS. The JV Hawks were in this game throughout, but were unable to hit critical shots when they needed to. The JV Saxons needed only free throws to seal the game in OT, as they converted 12-15 for all of their points.

Despite that the JV Hawks still had two chances to pull the game out in OT. Their first attempt was golden as SG Eli Villacorte (7pts, 3asts, 2stls) nailed a 3 pointer with Saxons draped all over him. He did not get the call, nor did he the next time, which resulted in a crucial miss. Villacorte also swished 2 free throws to lead the JV Hawks with 5 points in the extra frame.

Several JV Hawks had excellent games despite the loss. PF Aaron Jeter (10pts, 4rebs, 4dflcts) found his long range touch in the 3rd quarter, dropping in 2 from outside the arc. C Jeremy Jones (8pts, 9rebs, 1blk) came off the bench to score all 6 of the JV Hawks points in the 2nd quarter. His best score of the night was off a steal where he swooped down the left lane for a decisive left handed power slam. SG Terrell Wheeler (5pts, 1stl) was active in the JV Hawks ½ court press, and connected on his first three pointer of the year.
