FRESH HAWKS DOUBLE UP RAIDERS
The Freshmen boys basketball team of Hayfield Secondary got back to their winning ways, with a decisive victory over the home team Raiders of Stuart HS. The Hawks exploited the Raiders with a 26 point second quarter, which pushed a 2 point lead up to 25 points by the end of the first half. The Hawks then cruised in the third, only scoring 10 points. However the fourth was much like the second, as the Hawks went on another run, outscoring the Raiders 23-3. The Hawks were led by their leading scorer, PF Aaron Jeter (18pts, 11rebs, 5stls, 4asts), who had another double-double. Joining Jeter in double figures, was F Romaine Oakley (14pts, 6rebs, 2stls), who is starting to become a dominant force in this district. He is able to mix a fierce desire for individual success, with an equally balanced approach to the team concept. F Pierce Pratt (6pts, 7rebs, 7stls, 2asts) continued to develop defensively, swiping a team high 7 of the Hawks season high 27 steals on the afternoon.  The backcourt of Xavier Gingras (5pts, 5asts, 5stls) and Eli Villacorte (8pts, 1stl, 1ast) were on the court for most of the 2nd and 4th quarters, when the Hawks outscored the Raiders 49-6.
Other notable contributions included: C Corey McGhee (5pts, 1reb) started and gave the Hawks an early 2 point lead. G/F Jecardi Sykes (4pts, 1stl, 1reb) shook off an ankle injury, and scored 4 of the Hawks 10 points in the third quarter. C Atta Gyebi (4pts, 5rebs) made an immediate impact in the 1st quarter, grabbing several rebounds, and scoring 2 inside contested baskets.
