Freshmen Hawks Dominates Eagles : 84-32

The excitement and the novelty of participating against Edison HS, the school’s cross town rivalry, in front of their parents, friends and family members were displayed on the court. Within 3 minutes into the game, the freshmen team took an early lead of 13 to 4. Their aggressive style of play continued the remaining of the first quarter as their lead increased to 23 to 6.

The continuous interchange of full court defensive formation confused the opponent and converted into to 11 unanswered points before Edison was able to score in the second quarter.  At this point, the tone was set and the freshmen Hawks never looked back. By the end of the second quarter the score margin increased to 51-15.

Although in the third quarter the team applied little to no defensive pressure, the ability to execute an arsenal of half court plays widen the score margin and limited Edison to only 3 points to end the third quarter 65 to 18.

The fourth quarter was an exercise to optimize the player’s and team’s experience. The team rotated groups of five every two minutes. By the time the game ended (84-32) their hard work on and off the court certainly showed themselves, their parents, friends, family members, and the school the future of Hayfield Basketball is in the making.
