Hayfield defeated the defending Conference tournament champion Highlanders 50-30.  McLean jumped out to an early 12-0 lead before the hawks stormed back to tie the score with consecutive pins by junior 120 pounder Matt Pits and sophomore  126 pounder Billy Baldinger.  Senior 132 pounder Grant Saunders dominated defended Conference 6 champion Calvin Zug 9-0 to give the hawks the lead they never relinquished.  Senior 138 pounder, Matt Guillory ruthlessly executed an dazzling array of takedowns before pinning Tommy Lee in 2:27.  Junior  Sam Snoots won by major decision over Joe Horowitz 11-2 at 145 pounds to give the hawks a 26-12 lead in the team score.  Senior Mikey Baldinger and Senior Damanti Gladney received forfeits at 160 and 170 pounds.  Junior 220 pounder Matt Liechty put on takedown clinic, scoring 6 takedowns before pinning Charlie Salt in 2:56.  Junior Patrick McCarron ended the contest with a reversal to a pin against Will Salt in 4:36 at heavyweight.

                The second bout of the night pitted Hayfield against the home standing South Lake Seahawks.  Again the Hawks fell behind 12-0, as freshmen Sullivan Ramsel and Adam Centanni were making their varsity debuts at 106 and 113 pounds respectively.  Junior Matt Pitts and sophomore Billy Baldinger received forfeits at 120 and 126 pounds to tie up the score at 12.  Again, senior Grant Saunders put the hawks ahead by pinning Steven Otwell in 3:05.  Matt Guillory dispatched his foe, Maxwell Ryan in 1:06 at 138 pounds.  Alexis Larios got his first varsity start, and was pinned by Luke Tyler of SL in 1:16.  Sophomore MatHawk Gerard McCarron dominated Joseph Letteri  12-0 at 152 lbs.  Mikey Baldinger bumped up to 170 lbs and throttled Charles Verlarde 20-4 on the strength of 6 takedowns and 3 sets of nearfalls to get his team leading 6^th technical fall of the season.  Junior Matt Liechty dismantled Ryan Ferzoco 24-8 with an astounding 10 takedowns at 220 pounds!.  Junior Patrick McCarron made quick work of Erik Walter in :30.    This win has extended Hayfield’s undefeated Conference 6 Dual meet streak to 4 years and 23 straight matches.
