Jennifer Windau tossed a three-hit shutout as Hayfield (18-4) advanced to the Northern Region Quarterfinals with a 9-0 blanking of the Edison Eagles. The Hawks gave Windau all the support she would need in the top of the first by jumping out to a three-run lead. The Hawks senior pitcher cruised the rest of the way, fanning eight Eagle batters, and benefiting from an error-free defense. Freshman 2B Amber Fowler reached base five times and went 3-3 with 2 runs driven in. Sophomore catcher Sam Perry-Shifflett went 3-3 with an RBI and scored twice, while junior rightfielder Hannah Williams had 3 hits and 2 RBI’s. The Hawks will next face the winner of tonight's Robinson-Stone Bridge contest in a 1:00pm game at Falls Church High School on Monday, May 25th.
