Hayfield Varsity Softball defeated Alexandria City 4-2 on Tuesday.
Hayfield Varsity softball took an early lead in the first inning when Chrissy Cobbs singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Alexandria City evened things up at two in the top of the scond inning. Allison Goetz hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run.
Hayfield took the lead for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth, Asha Nair singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
Jazmynn Adams earned the win for Hayfield. The right hander surrendered two runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out five.
Cobbs led Hayfield with two hits in three at bats. Hayfield stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Giada McGillin led the way with three.
