HAWKS: 19
WAKEFIELD HS: 1

Boys Lax Starts Season Soaring

The Boys Varsity Lacrosse team won a convincing victory over Wakefield HS, to commence their 2016 campaign. The Hawks were paced by Jr. Attack Carson Babcock (7 goals), who scored early and often (scoring in all four quarters). 6 other Hawks also scored on Monday night, giving Hayfield a well balanced attack, which hopefully will continue throughout the season. Hayfield’s next opponent will not be as easy, as the Hawks arch nemesis from last season comes to the Hawks Nest on Thursday evening. Hopefully Hayfield will have the luck of the Irish, and will repel the visiting Highlanders on St. Patrick’s Day.

Other contributions included: So. Attack Ethan Artero recorded his first 6 points of his varsity career, with 3 goals, and 3 assists. Sr. Midfielder JC Reynolds, out most of last season due to injury, equaled Babcock with 7 points, by scoring 4 goals, and assisting on 3 others. Jr. Attack Brendan MacBeth notched 3 points of his own with a goal and 2 assists, while Sr. Midfielder Thomas Hughlett, chipped in with a goal and assist, and played spirited defense all over the field.

Jr. LSM Matt Stevenson led the team with 10 ground balls (recovered ground balls), and started numerous fast breaks, registering an assist on Babcock’s 5th goal of the evening. So. Faceoff specialist/Midfielder Clint Pearson led Hayfield to a 13-9 faceoff advantage, and scored two goals along the way.

Goals/Assists/Pts. Scored By: Babcock (7/0/7), Reynolds (4/3/7), MacBeth (1/2/3), Hughlett (1/1/2), Pearson (2/0/2), Enyinnaya (1/0/1), Stevenson (0/1/1), Artero (3/3/6), Merid (0/1/1)
