Long Trip to Ashburn ends in defeat

   The Boys Varsity traveled to Ashburn Va. on Monday evening to take on the defending 5A State Champions, the Briarwoods Falcons. Even with Hayfield’s excellent attitude, and a tremendous group effort by the young Hawks, Hayfield was overmatched from the opening whistle. That said, Hayfield continued to give a solid effort, even in the 4^th quarter, down by 20 goals. Hayfield continued to show good sportsmanship throughout their long evening, even when the winning team did not.

    Hayfield got onto the score sheet, late in the game, when the Artero Bros. got rolling. Jr. Attack Ethan Artero, one of two returning starters from last season, and his younger brother, So. FO/Midfielder Luke Artero were playing together for varsity for the first time, when Luke found Ethan for a long outlet pass, which led to Hayfield’s lone goal. Hopefully this is just the beginning, for this scoring duo!

    Hayfield will open its home schedule on Wednesday, 3/22/17, when they host the Warriors from Wakefield HS.
