Hawks Triumph in their Nest

The Boys Varsity bounced back from their loss to Briarwoods, with a solid team effort, to defeat the Wakefield Warriors, during the Hawks home opener. Hayfield never trailed in last night’s game, with Jr. Attack Ethan Artero (5pts), and So. Attack Patrick Manley, Jr (6pts) leading the way. Hayfield had a balanced attack, with seven different players reaching the scoring column.

So. Attack Brian Marshall (1pt) scored his first varsity goal on a backhanded sweep, after receiving a great pass from Jr. FO/Midfielder Clint Pearson (4pts), as did So. FO/Midfielder Luke Artero, who had achieved his first varsity  assist (and point) in the first game of the season, when he fed his older brother Ethan Artero, on a long full field pass. Ethan returned the favor last night, with a sharp entry pass to the crease, which Luke snared, spun, and fired into the net, for his first varsity goal! Additionally, Fr. Midfielder Hayden Page scored his 1st goal of his HS career.

The Hawks were paced by three separate players who had hat tricks; Patrick Manley Jr. (5 goals), Ethan Artero (3 goals), and Sr. Attack Brendan MacBeth (3 goals).

Hayfield returns to the field, on Friday, when they travel to Washington & Lee to face the Generals.
