Hawks Fall to Titans in Home Opener

       The Hayfield Boys Varsity Lacrosse team struggled to get any momentum in their home opener, after playing a very competitive game vs. Mount Vernon last week. The Hawks had trouble all night sustaining any continuity on offense, which led to numerous turnovers, either forced or unforced by the TC Williams Titans. The Titans scored early and often, placing the Hawks into a deep hole by the end of the 1^st quarter. Hayfield finally broke through, when Sr. A/M Clint Pearson (1 goal, 1 assist) found the back of the net, late in the 2^nd quarter.

       Jr. Goaltender Jake Fischer (17 saves) again stood on his head, not letting the Titans pull too far away. Soph. A/M Hayden Page (2 goals, 1 assist) led all Hayfield scorers, and now has 3 goals on the young season. Jr. M Angel Medrano (1 goal), scored his first goal of his high school varsity career, using a 2 person screen, to beat the Titans goaltender. Jr. FO/M Luke Artero recorded his 2^nd point of the season, with a nifty assist to Page, for Hayfield’s final tally of the evening. Artero was also instrumental in leading Hayfield to tie TC with 10 face-offs won. Hayfield is scheduled to take the field again on Wednesday, vs. Lee HS weather permitting.
