Friday the 13^th & TC Williams Overwhelm Hayfield

Hayfield Boys Lax has had to overcome many obstacles this season, and Friday night was no different. On Wednesday afternoon, Hayfield’s Jr. Goalie Jake Fischer went down with a sprain of his left LCL ligament. His replacement, JV Goalie Will Werner (Soph) stepped up, and played a valiant game vs. the Gunston District’s top squad; the Titans of TC Williams. Werner had several flashes of brilliance, recording 13 saves, in his first varsity start. TC however, is a juggernaut, which is tough to stop. Despite missing their best player, the Titans tallied 17 goals, the most given up by Hayfield this season.

Sr. A Clint Pearson tallied his fourth 3+ goal game of the season, raising his team highs in goals (17) and points (19). Jr. Def. Jamin Phillips returned from injury, and contributed with runs at midfield, and close defense. Jr. Def. Kody Venable led the team with 3 ground balls, several full field clears, and spirited defense in the face of overwhelming odds. Jr. A/M Sean Moment recorded his first varsity assist.
