Dominating Defense + Balanced Offense = Hawks Victory (Defeat Atoms 11-6)

     Last season, Hayfield and Annandale played two spirited and exciting games, in which the Atoms won in both cases, including an exhilarating 14-13 Hayfield loss at Annandale, where then Soph. Hayden Page tied a team record with 7 goals. Last night, the Hawks sought to reverse that trend and prevailed 11-6, led by Hayfield’s stalwart defense, and a balanced Hawks offense, who had 5 players with 2 goals apiece.

    Last year’s 2^nd leading scorer, Jr. Hayden Page (2 assists last night), moved from attack to midfield this season, sacrificing individual glory for team balance and triumph. Since making varsity as a freshman, Hayden has epitomized what it means to be a Hawk; team first always!. Hayden often plays two to three positions per night. His excellent defense, endless energy, and constant optimistic outlook sets the tone for his teammates. Last night Hayden fired two excellent feeds for goals, raising his assists to 8 (Hayden has the team high, and has scored at least one point in every game this season).
