Hawks Cruise Past Generals, 8-1

Opposing teams are learning a lesson the hard way when facing the Hayfield Hawks softball squad this season – Don’t let them score first. The Hawks improved to 10-0 this season in contests that have seen them light up the scoreboard before their opponents.

Hayfield put up four runs in the top of the first inning, and Amber Fowler hurled a three-hitter allowing only one unearned run, as the Hawks (12-2, 8-0) stayed undefeated in National District play. Megan Perry-Shifflett led a balanced attack for the Hawks and went 2-4, stole three bases and scored three runs, while Taylor Neuhart drove in three. Sam Perry-Shifflett tied the Hayfield school record for triples in a season with her fourth of the year.
