Hawks Ground Eagles in Battle of the Birds, 15-0

It took a few innings for the Hayfield bats to get warmed up on a chilly night, but once they did, it was all over as the Hawks won the second Battle of The Birds against the Edison Eagles 15-0 in 6 innings.  After playing to a 0-0 score at the end of three, the Hawks turned up the heat and scored all 15 in the final 3 frames.

Samantha Perry-Shifflett batted 3-4 and smashed a 2-run homer in the victory.  Perry-Shifflett's four-bagger tied her sister Megan for the team lead.  Taylor Neuhart and Amber Fowler also had 3-4 nights.  Neuhart had 3 RBIs and Fowler added two.  Kelly Sheaff hit a game ending two-run single to center in the bottom of the 6th inning. 

In the circle, Fowler scattered 5 hits in the game and struck out 8, benefitting from error-free defense during the game.  Hayfield moved to 14-2 on the season (10-0, National District).  The Hawks will next travel to Mount Vernon on Friday.
