Hawks Blank Majors, 2-0

Hayfield stayed perfect in National District play with a 2-0 victory at Mount Vernon on Friday night. Amber Fowler fired a one-hitter and was backed up by stingy defense to keep the Majors off the basepaths, including a double play started by Katelyn Thorne in the bottom of the first to kill the Majors' only real scoring threat of the game.

The Hawks did all their damage against Mount Vernon pitcher Olivia Compton in the 4th inning. Fowler led off with a line shot up the middle that whizzed past Compton's head. The Hawks got hits on the next two pitches with a deep double to left center by Megan Perry-Shifflett to score Fowler, and a single to center by Taylor Neuhart that plated Perry-Shifflett.

Hayfield (15-2, 11-0 AAA National) will host Wakefield on Tuesday, May 4th at 6pm.
