Taylor Neuhart struck out 13, allowed 10 hits, and walked one.  The Hawks gave up the first run in the second inning when the second and third batters singled (Taylor struck out the first, fourth and fifth batters).  A throwing and fielding error allowed the unearned run on a steal to third base.  In the third inning, the lead-off batter singled and was sacrifice bunted to second base,  The next batter singled, a strikeout followed but the next batter singled in the second run.  A double allowed two more runs to score.  Taylor then struck out the next batter to end the inning.  Although, the Hawks made contact, they did not receive their first hit until the fifth inning when Brittani Garza singled up the middle.  In the 7th Inning, Taylor led off with a deep solo home run to centerfield.  Bonnie Schipper then reached first on an error.  Bonnie advanced to second on Madison Nowland's ground out and moved to third on a wild pitch.  Britani Garza then drove in Bonnie with a single.  The Hawks next two batters struck out to end the game.  Short stop Taryn McElhenny saved a run from scoring in the first inning when she fielded a hard hit grounder in the "5" hole.  She then ran down the runner trying to score from thrid base.  She also made a diving catch in the 7th inning on a line drive.  Right fielder Brittani Garza made a nice running catch on a short fly ball in the 4th inning.  The Hawks finished their season with a record of 23-1 as the 2013 National District Champions.
