The season started on February 20th and ended on May 28.  Thirty teams are in the Northern Region and on May 28th there were 8 teams left playing.  The Hayfield Hawks was one of those teams.  Despite having only four returning starters, the Hawks won the National District Championship and won their first Region Play-Off game and then lost to Oakton 6-0. 

The Hawks could only come up with three hits (Taylor Neuhart, Amber Fowler and Katelyn Thorne) against Oakton's Allison Davis.  

Taylor struck out 11 batters, allowed 5 hits and walked 4.  She was named to the All-Tournament Region Team.  The Hawks committed 3 errors.  The Hawks wish their only senior, Amber Fowler the best as she will enter Longwood College in the Fall.  Coach Giovannucci states "Amber was the best clutch hitter in his 15 years of coaching at Hayfield."  Amber won a lot of games for the Hawks with her bat.  She was also an above average pitcher, her sophomore and junior years.  A back injury during her senior year kept her off of the mound.
